Celotex Ceilings

For many years, Celotex ceilings were held in high regard among installers and suspended ceiling contractors.

They had a product catalog that featured everything from economical lay in tiles, all the way up to their high performance Cashmere tiles.

But Celotex was a leader in the asbestos industry, and eventually that came to lead to their demise. As a result of numerous asbestos related lawsuits, and actions by the federal government, the Celotex Corporation was sold off division by division early in 2000.

The ceiling division was sold to CertainTeed, and the remains of the product lines are now sold and distributed through them.

If you would like to learn a little more about division aquisitions by various companies, you can read about it here.

Cetainteed had already been actively working to expand their own ceiling division, and since some of the the Celotex products would be competing against their own, they were eliminated/discontinued shortly after the new owners took over.

The remaining product lines still carry the "Celotex" label, but the products and options are severely limited, when compared to the product line they had before they were sold off.

So, if you are trying to match an existing Celotex tile, or need to get some info about the products still available, follow this link to Celotex tiles.
